Director Anubhav Sinha plays it safe with the tried-and-tested
formula of a number of previous movies. The story, remixed again, gives
you the impression is script ko pehle bhi kahin dekha hai.
As the storyline goes, Samar (Priyanshu) is a suspended cop
who is on the lookout for a runaway gangster, to prove his innocence to
his seniors. His chase leads him to Canada, where he meets a family friend,
Paakhi (Saakshi). It's a love-at-first-sight for both of
them, but Paakhi's over-possessive father Sam (Om Puri)
disapproves of the match. But later on, accepts him as his son-in-law-to-
be.
On the wedding day, Sam comes to know about Samar's past and is heart-
broken. But finally, better sense prevails and all live happily ever
after.
------
The screenplay stretches a lot, with songs in between, adding to its
length. Many sequences go unedited. Moreover, the director should have
withheld the hero's police identity till the climax, to make it look
interesting. No proper publicity also mars the film's prospects.
On the upside, the cinematography is taken care of well. A couple of
comic scenes raise the tempo, in the otherwise dull proceedings.
Of the cast, both Priyanshu and Saakshi have a long way to go, to come
somewhere to be called 'stars'. They are no matches for the experienced
Om Puri, who is his usual self, playing the chief comedian with a small
dose of emotions.
VERDICT: It won't work. The script is too simple for the audience's
liking.
