Amitabh Bachchan, Anil  Kapoor, Preity Zinta,  Gracy Singh,Randhir  Kapoor.

Honey Iranis' directorial debut, an Aari Enterprise presentation - Armaan released this week with two other long time unreleased Haasil and Stumped. People had lots of hope from this film for a terrific team behind the making. Right from producer to director to actors, music and so on. The only loophole seems to be the obviousness of the story.

Honey Irani's earlier films as writer were all so perfect, but this time when it is herself calling the shots, seems to have left the story part on the back seat. Actually the story is so very obvious that people who have seen the promos of the film would already know the storyline. The story has a medical background and revolves around a doctor and his hospital. Also the story is about the doctor and his son's relationship and lastly the son's relationship(s) with the lead ladies.

Amitabh Bachchan is Dr. Sinha is a very generous doctor. He dreams of making his hospital the best from all the fronts, equipments, instruments, state-of-the-art-machinery et al. Anil Kapoor plays his adopted son Akash who is a neurosurgeon. He dreams the ways Dr. Sinha, his father does. Now the love interest of Akash, Neha played by Gracy Singh, joins the hospital as an expert anesthetist. But when the going goes on smoothly, in comes Preity Zinta as Sonya Kapoor, who meets Akash at a party. Sonya is daughter to a multi millionaire father played by Randhir Kapoor. Sonya is a very arrogant girl and does only what she wants to. And gets things done in her own way. She happens to fall for Akash immediately and now aims to get his love. But Akash likes the sober Neha.

------
One fine day, Dr. Sinha dies while he is trying to save a child's life. Now it is Akash who has to fulfill his father's dream but is stuck with financial crisis. Steps in Sonya's father with an offer to fund the hospital with a condition that Akash should marry his daughter Sonya. The routine drama begins and some emotional scenes end up in Akash marrying Sonya and Neha signing as a witness.

The film has a huge star cast including Randhir Kapoor making a comeback after a long break. Acting wise, all the actors have performed well with a special mention of Amitabh who is at his best as ever. Gracy Singh has done a good job after her last debut 'Lagaan'.

Music by Sankar-Eshan-Loy is just passable with two songs worth noticing. The cinematography is average. Honey Irani could have worked harder and must have given more importance to the scripting part.

Overall 'Armaan' is definitely not a regular romantic enterprise, but lacks in the story which itself was a forte of the writer turned director Honey Irani.
