Govinda, Rani Mukharji.
A 'C' grade film in the offing! - And you can make out what to expect from it. Childish plot, out-of-focus
cinematography, jumbled songs, 'sadak-chhap' dialogues, clueless direction… the list goes on. But try answering
the vital question - What are 'A' grade actors like Govinda, Rani & Sunil Shetty (in a cameo)
doing in a 'C' grade mess? Well, that's the ground reality.
The film seems to be the last nail in the coffin, bidding farewell to a 'black year' in Bollywood, where films
failed fair and square.
Coming down to the script (or the lack of it), Sapna (Rani) is a leading star with Pappu
(Govinda) acting as her 'Fan No. 1'. Sapna is set to marry one affluent industrialist;
Rahul (Sanjay Suri) but is heart-broken when she realizes the latter's playboy ways. And so, she
strikes a deal with Pappu to bump off Rahul and in turn, she will kill Pappu's grandmother back home. But why
would someone plot to kill his own granny? Reason - Because Pappu thinks she dislikes him and treats him
shabbily.
------
Believe it or faint, but that's the storyline. There are also two more characters to complete the disjoint love
angles (namely, Mink and Sunil Shetty, in a guest appearance).
Technical aspects and continuity seems to be unheard of, by the director. And it won't surprise you when a sizeable
number of the audiences start leaving the theatre even before the climax.
This is a second consecutive failure for the lead pair, after their last dud, 'Pyar Deewana Hota Hai'.
VERDICT: An advice - Even if you are a big fan of Govinda & Rani, don't watch it. Because you won't like your
favourite stars to let you down with a dismal performance, would you?
