Chalte Chalte, Shah Rukh Khan's third outing under the banner of Dreamz Unlimited, was eagerly awaited.
One, because after the box-office failure of Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani and Asoka, this seemed to be a film that could
have set things right, and two, post-Devdas, SRK-fans were really looking forward to see something exciting. The promos of
Chalte Chalte looked appealing and so did the lead pair but alas, the film treads on predictable terrain. Cliched situations,
a dragging first half and a predictable second half put brakes on this rather 'chalta hai' affair.
The story, Raj Mathur (Shah Rukh Khan) is a man who has never done what he's planned and vice versa. He
accidentally bumps into Priya (Rani Mukerji) (in Mumbai) who is a prim and propah fashion designer, born in
Greece (yes you read that right)! It's love at first sight for Raj though for Priya, it's not. She's promised her pa back home that
she would get engaged to her childhood friend, Sameer (Jas Arora). Raj is disappointed but not the one to
lose heart, he follows her all the way to Athens. Naturally, Priya has a change of heart and the two get married.
Marriage and intermission over, problems begin though nothing of the insurmountable kind. While Priya likes to keep her home neat
and tidy, Raj is very disorganised. She would rather keep his shoes in place but Raj likes them in two different directions. He's a
careless sort while she is a committed sort! All this reaches a dead end when Raj goes through a business ordeal and has to pay up
Rs 25 lakh in a week! Priya arranges for the money but that again proves to be the final nail in the coffin. The two drift apart.
Kya hoga next?
------
The flaws in the film - it comes too soon after Shaad Ali's Saathiya which again dealt with marital tu tu main main.
Even some of the lines are the same! Director Aziz Mirza could have treated the subject really differently since it wasn't
offering anything new but falters largely because of the tried and tested screenplay. The first half just drags on with Raj
wooing Priya while the second half just gets straight into their muddly marital relationship. A predictable climax makes
matters worse.
For the plusses, SRK makes the entire first half watchable. Rani looks delicious for a major part of the film though
performance-wise her Suhani in Saathiya was much better. Music by Jatin-Lalit and Aadesh
Shrivastav is good in parts while Ashok Mehta's cinematography perks up the song sequences (those shot in Greece).
All in all, a film that could have certainly been better.

I think CHALTE CHALTE is a BAD FILM .. period ! Shahrukh Khan is over the top ! Nothing new in the film ! Very cliched and dealt badly ! Its high time Shahrukh utilises his star status to do better films and Aziz Mirza too needs a brush up in direction !

I think the movie, although was a bit excitin n humorous lacked some logical moment illustrated when shahrukh drives all the way to ranis home(how does he know where she lives)also he changes from being very understanding n sentimental in the first half to being naive in the second half. but apart from that kudos to both shahrukh n rani for their performance.

The story of chalte chalte is a normal in our life the songs are very slow and music to but couple of songs are really too good which keep the tempo of the film but all in all a very good movie not that bad but the story again have n't get the power in it like all the productions of shahrukh khan films but his and her acting were superver they suited in their role and dressing is absolutely ravishing... shabaz

Chalte Chalte is one of the best movies i've seen in the past two years. The first half is magnicently made in the exotic locations of greece. All the songs are percectly situational .As far as the performances are concerned Shahrukh Khan steals the show.
IAM sure Dreamz Unlimited will register their First Hit with this movie. - Preetham Reddy by email
Boy for someone who probably knows nothing of what goes into making a movie, you sure don't have any problem tearing it apart. As far as I'm concerned, along with many others, Chalte Chalte shows the growth of Dreamz Unlimited and will be this summer's blockbuster worldwide! I give a 10 out of 10!!!

I think the movie 'chalte chalte' was a pretty boring one & i totally agree with the editor. only parts of the movie was watchable.
when saathiya is still fresh in our minds, the director could have been a little more innovative.but yes the USP of the film is
definetely rani mukherji.....sorry sharukh.
