The much awaited film 'company' deserves a compliment. This flick
directed by Ram Gopal Varma loosely deals with
underworld and is different from SATYA.
It's a story about two friends - Malik (Ajay Devgan) and
Chandu Nagre (Vivek Oberoi) turning foe. Malik a
trusted aide of an underworld don Aslam takes control of the
gang along with Chandu and starts ruling Mumbai city.
Chandu earns a place in Maliks heart due to his dealings and in
the bargain, they become close friends.
The bond between them becomes stronger when Chandu
saves Maliks life.
------
Police Officer Shrinivasan (Mohan Lal) is a man who takes
charge over Mumbai and wants to uproot the underworld from
the city. Due to this Malik and Chandu are forced to flee to
Hong Kong and start controlling their men from there.
Like broken eggshells cannot be mended so does friendship.
Due to a misunderstanding between Malik and Chandu they part ways.
Malik stays back in Hong Kong with his aides, while Chandu shifts to
Nairobi. They now decide to play the dangerous game of
'Kaun Karega Khallas'. Chandu is shot at and Shrinivasan
convinces him to come back and be a prosecution witness,
Malik tries to bury old disputes but it's too late.
Manisha Koirala plays Ajay Devgan's love and is very impressive while
Antara Maali plays Vivek's wife and finally her patience pays.
Ajay Devgan plays Maliks character with great intensity and
delivers a good performance. Vivek Oberoi, the new face on
the block, has a promising future. His role of Chandu will
definitely earn him his fair share of appreciation.
Seema Biswas as Vivek's mother has done a good job.
Southern super star Mohan Lal gives support and balances the story well.
Writer Jaideep Sahni deserves compliments. Sandeep Chowta's
background music is first rate, as Ram Gopal Varma has not given
much songs. Two songs in the movie are much talked about one which
is Khallas, which is picturised on Isha Koppikar,
and the other is picturised on Urmila Matondkar.
Action Sequence by Allan Amir are very real and look
real to life. With so many actors the story does not drag.
Overall, it's Ram Gopal Varma's COMPANY that will make
people forget SATYA. Its bound to be a 'HIT'.
